New health niche site coming along nicely. Only one month old but I “cheated” and started with an aged (1996) auction domain from a old hospital website. So far I’ve added 50k words of content and have built around 6 guest posts to my target pages. Building out a second site on a stronger aged auction domain (1995) too. Any questions feel free to ask.
Nice, how many backlinks did the previous domain had? (Root domain)
AHREFS is showing 60 fresh RD but Majestic over 100. Has a strong .gov link and a few other very high quality links from hospitals etc.
Sounds solid. Was the domain indexed when you bought it? I guess you paid at least $500?
I’m doing something similar with an aged 36DA Domain…
Who sells these legit and spam-free old domains on auction?
You can do the research yourself, go to Go Daddy and find an auction domain and use MOZ or SemRush or Ahref and check the backlinks and DA/PA.
If you are new I don’t recommend buying an aged domain.
Nice! Keep adding content and build it up. Good luck!
I’m also building a site in the health niche. Are you promoting any click-bank products?
Nice work buddy
How’s the link profile?
Anyone aware of how I can find guest bloggers to write for my site?
Have a solid site, have traffic coming too it and create a following.
People dont just guest post on random sites that are not ranking.
You need to be ranking well and have great content to even get looked at when people want to guest post on your site.
How do I know if my site is ranking?
You can use tools like SEMRush, SerpLab, Google Analytics and the free one called Google Web Tools.
Thanks for the tips.
1.) How are you adding content in such a short amount of time?
2.) Quality writers are usually 40-70$+ per 1000 words, are you using spun content? Cheap writers? Bulk orders?
3.) How are you coming up with the topics per article?
I’m getting 1000 word articles for $18. I sometimes tidy up the articles but I’m happy with the content. I put a lot more effort into the “review” pages though as the copy needs to be spot on for these.
Can you share the content source please? PM if you like
Which site you using? I’ve had 3 attempts at upwork and hit a wall for affordable writers.
Spun articles on a main website? No thanks.
Spun means? Like reused.
Spun means reused yes, but you “spin” the original content by substituting words and phrases to create original content. Just google “article spinner” and you’ll find plenty of information.
Well, it’s 50k. Obviously
I would never use spun articles for a money site.
Where did you find the writers?
50k how did you do that?
1. 50k words in a month is quite easy to do if you are focused.
2. Never use spun content for your main site, that is just silly and asking Google not to rank you.
As for writers you can get some decent ones for cheaper then that and if you guide them in the right direction they can be great.
3. There are lots of sites and tools that will help you create topics, answerthepublic, keywords everywhere, Google Suggestions, Quora Questions, Forums, Google Trends, YouTube Trends, Instagram Trends… It goes On.
50k words.. How many posts??
10 posts and one product review page.
Been a while since i got an aged domain – what you using to find them? fresdrop, registercompass?
Domcorp led me to this one.
Started doing some sales?
1 million visits?
IM = 1 Month, not 1 million. Traffic is 50 visitors.
Are they all trying to access the old hospital site though?
No, as the site has been completely re-branded and I don’t rank for that keyword anymore.
How do you get guest posts???
I use an outreach strategy looking for blogs in the same niche which have genuine organic traffic.
Did you ask them directly for guest post? Also did you set any DA range?
Yes and I only look at how much traffic the site is receiving. Don’t worry about DA mate.
OK, thanks may I ask you how much conversion rate are you getting. Like how much guest posts you are getting if you are sending 100 personalised emails, just curious???
Do you pay them? They ask for money.
How did you find said domain? I’m looking to try my hand at the expired domain game.
This particular domain was through a broker.
Will keep you guys updated as a I make a push for page 1…
How much did it cost?
Domain was $250 through a broker.
Traffic moving up nicely.. Hit page 1 for a variation of main keyword too
Impressive. What do you attribute the fast growth to? The domain or the back-links you’ve built?
Thanks mate. I really think it is both. The domain has never dropped from index since 1996 and the links I’ve added are all from genuine niche relevant sites receiving organic traffic. I’ve never ranked a site this fast though either. I don’t normally start with an aged auction domain but will be going forward.
Would you mind dropping me the info about the broker and stuff? I really want to attempt the use of an aged domain.. and doing the research myself is kinda inconclusive (when it comes to past penalties and such).
PM me if you’d like.
It’s an expired domain right.
Where do you buy links?
Auction domain – not expired. I’ve been contacting other bloggers regarding guest posts.
ok, For auction domains, what’s the price range? I assume they are expensive.
Fantastic work! Your work is inspirational as I’ve seen you smash it with some of you’re posts. A question tho, when getting back links from guest posts, do you try focus them on your home page or different inner pages and articles?
Thanks Saj! Yes, with guest posts I’m usually focusing on blog posts and product review pages (my money pages). I try and limit spend to $50 or under per guest post but will pay more for a really high quality guest post.
Sounds good – I’m slowly trying to do similar! Very impressed with your work Matt! 🙂 well done on such fantastic progress!
Did you find your writer(s) on Upwork? Philippines? $18 for 1,000 words is something I have never been able to find unless the articles are sh*t.
How are you siloing?
Yeah they’re from Philippines but I’m happy with the quality. I just tweak it where required. Not siloing really as the site is built around “one problem” and one product which solves “that problem”. I’m adding supporting pages which I’m linking to my main pages though.
How do you get 6 guest posts published in one month?
How the site owners are allowing link to money article?
Are you doing paid guest posts?
All, paid guest posts mate
What was the average price of one guest post?
He answered about price above.
Saw the comment about writers but didn’t see the price of a guest post.
It really depends on how much you can sweet talk them. I can get guest posts down to the low double digits.
But again it depends how you speak and connect with each potential site/creator.
Can’t we get our guest post published in Good sites without paying them?
You could yes, Make an awesome piece of content or Infograph or Video. Something that their visitors would love! But it has to be unique and different.
Otherwise most of the time you pay them for a guest post or just a back-link in one of their existing articles.
Its cheaper to ask for a back-link in one of their existing articles, because all they have to do is edit a piece of content and throw your link it. This is something I always try go for.
Then you have the guest post. So you pay $50 for a solid 1200 word article, send it to them they like it. You then ask how much for it to be a guest post on their site. They give you a number.
Why do this, they get more content up on their site, they rank for that content, they get PAID for it all while giving their visitors something to read and learn from.
It’s really a win win.
Higher rankings = more clicks
Is this traffic from your guest posts, or is it from rankings due to the guest posts?
This is from Google Search Console so it is rankings from the guest posts.
Very impressive – What’s the keyword difficulty/keyword tool you used?
No tool. I find my niches from https://empireflippers.com/ so I know what niches are profitable. I usually listen to the seller interviews and try and find the niche. The seller had several sites in this niche make like $15k per month profit. I’m working on a second site in this niche too.
Yeah they always give too much away and I can usually find their niche and sites
Keywords increasing daily…
Keep doing what you’re doing mate. Consistency is key, same as quality.
I’m on the fence about whether it’s time to order some PBN rental links. I’ve got access to arguably the best network. My competitors are ranking with around 15 to 20 PBN links… What’s your thoughts?
With the growth your seeing now don’t worry about it. Hold off, if it flat lines for a month or so then think about stuff like that.
Will stick with outreach for now then. Looking to get some branded links from online news sites. Want to make push for page 1 on a couple of keywords.
Slow and steady mate.
Be careful with PBN Rental’s. You have no clue what else they are linking too and most of the time they are just crappy sites with all types of content.
I recommend if you want to do any PBN setup build your own network. Start with a few sites, some decent content wait a bit and then link to your money site.
Or keep smashing the outreach for your Guest Posting.
Yeah, I would only consider using https://rankclub.io/the-link-service/ (formerly Diggity Links). Have you used their service?
What’s their pricing?
Congrats for your success. Does the Google Medic update affect your health site?
Depends on the specific site but around $5 to $40 per link per month.
It doesn’t seem to have. Traffic has been steady and increasing …
Traffic has reach over 300 users over the last few days.
Just a quick update. Traffic and keywords increasing nicely. I’ve secured two new guest posts this week so should see an increase soon. Two more articles added to the site too.
I don’t see luck in it, I see hard work and dedication
Luck in most of cases is result of enormous efforts, hard work and dedication.
Thanks. Yes, I’ve put a bit of effort into outreach for these relevant guest posts and the site would have around 55k words of content on it now I think.
Thanks mate. I’m determined to make a living from affiliate SEO.
How much did you pay for this website if not a secret?
Hi, I purchased the domain for US$250.00. It was secured by a broker at auction and was first registered in 1996. It has some good links behind it and is nicely aged. I’m up against strong competition though and many of my competitors are ranking with around 20 PBN links.
Also do remember you won’t see every single link back to a website. You can hide links as well from tools like AHRef and SEMRush, MOZ etc.
Strong Guest Posts should knock them PBN links out. Really depends how powerful each PBN is and how diverse it is.
Yeah, I used https://www.linkresearchtools.com/ to find their links. They’re strong as they were setup exclusively to rank these sites and don’t link out to other sites.
Excellent job, i am glad that you got this, really.
I have 200k visitors website thinkmobiles.com and also build kind of affiliate stuff.
This can find PBN links?
Nice work. How much revenue so far?
Hello, Which sites are good for guest posts?
Don’t waste time on auction domains, domains that change their content significantly loose all age power. Now it’s not the domain age that matters, but the “CTR Age” that matters. It’s 2018 buddy.
Keep telling him it doesn’t work while he keeps having success.
“Domains that change their content significantly loose all age power”
That’s why you would select a domain that is in the same topic/niche?
Nothing wrong with Auction or Expired domains if you do it right.
It’s 2018 and it still works……
Still climbing nicely as guest posts are being completed….
Where do get the auction domains from buddy?
I’m working on a second site in the same niche also using an auction domain in the health niche which theoretically should be stronger based on the link profile. Will keep you guys posted on how it responds.
Hi, did the August google update affect you like it seems to have affected many other health sites?
What pages are you aiming the links at? What’s your distribution like? Well done, enjoying following this!
I’ve just had a look and I have secured 17 guest posts and the vast majority have included a link to my main target blog post. Only one link to my review page. It’s important to keep in mind that I’ve used an auction domain with a decent amount of existing branded home page links. I wouldn’t use the same strategy for a new domain. All of the guest posts are from sites with genuine organic traffic too.
Ah I see thanks for the insight! Appreciated.
Traffic and keywords continue to climb…
Killing it! how many posts per week/month are you securing?
Thanks mate. The existing authority and relevance of the domain has to be helping. I’ve built 17 guest posts this month and most have been indexed. I’m not a big fan of metrics but the Trust Flow is quite strong…
Looking solid! What’s your expenditure/overall cost on those 17 if you don’t mind me asking? 🙂 I’m enjoying following this!
I’ve been spending around $30 to $50 per guest post but have been selling links on other sites I have access too to offset the costs.
Nice! So breaking even I suppose! Also – where do you see the traffic increase going up to? Is there a cap you reckon or you going to start moving on to shoulder niches?
Yeah, would be around break even.
Yeah, would be around break even. Here is a competitors site…
Looks like he’s on a downward spiral!
Yeah he is. Heavy reliance on PBN links and he was once at over 100k according to SEMRush.
He was making US$15k per month with several sites targeting one product.
Love the journal buddy and glad you’re seeing some good results- but maybe do less frequent updates instead of daily updates. It’s starting to look like you’re just trying to bump your post to the top daily.
Keep up the hustle though, you’re doing great!
Yes, will start to do weekly updates going forward mate.
Hi guys, going forward I will only be providing a weekly update every Monday. I’m now focusing on links to my main review page to see if I can reach page 1 this month (currently #15). Traffic is increasing nicely and the site is gaining keywords daily.
Anything else I should be focusing on? Was thinking of CRO but too early? 37 clicks of offer last month but no conversions yet.
I haven’t gone through all comments but are you also focusing on social media? Building a following, getting traffic from other sources other than seo and maybe even video (you can outsource this or do simple PowerPoint/slide videos and also link back to content).
With a new site I normally try get a sale within 100 affiliate clicks – if I don’t, I optimise or go over wording to make sure my content flows with the offer I’m promoting.
You can also try optimising to get higher ctr on your affiliate links over time as well – things like link colour, placement, wording you use to link out or even play around with buttons. Tell people to click your links – ‘ *Click here to read all the testimonials* about xyz, Greg’s story was just like mine and that’s what inspired me to buy’
In between the * I would link to offer (as long as it flows and there are testimonials).
But yeah, don’t be scared to tweak for conversions. Going great by the way – you will get there, just keep consistent and test/tweak over time.
Thanks mate, really appreciate your input. I will start to look into social media now as I only have the basic profiles setup. The specific niche is a bit tricky with social media though. A video could work well though. I will keep up the link building and will get more content up too. Just took delivery of some very strong guest posts so will see what impact they have too. I know there is good $$$ to be made in this niche and I’m hoping to pay for my wedding in Feb from affiliate commissions.
Wedding hey, exciting times ahead. Good luck mate, I’m sure by then you’ll be making some good money to put towards it.
Bounce rate is a little high at over 80% – may be worth trying to keep people on the site longer. – Also page views – may be worth trying get people to click on to other pages to increase page views per session – that should lower bounce rate along with it I think.
Uh? You know his website??
All depends – most of my niche sites are over 80% and that’s because they bounce to my affiliate link.
My sites have ranked for years.
Yeah, I’ve just added Hotjar to the site to get a better idea of what’s happening.
I shared a screenshot of Analytics before.
Any domain supplier you’ll recommend?
Will continue with finding guest post opportunities and will start to focus on building links to supporting articles. Will need some stronger links to the main review page too as many competitors are using reasonably strong PBN links.
Inspirational, keep going mate, you’re killing it.
I’m working on some CRO for the website too. Added a fixed sidebar widget promoting my main offer which should help improve conversions.
Sounds good, you’d be surprised how a simple tweak can improve your engagements sometimes. I’m finding this really motivational to follow so great work!
The traffic growth has really surprised me. I think the key was the auction domain was very niche relevant. Also I’ve built nearly 20 quality niche relevant links which has made the site “pop”.
This is a great example of what we just talked about.
So inspiring! Keep it up! By the way do you use a guest post service? If so, what do you recommend?
I haven’t used one yet as I find them very pricey compared to negotiating with bloggers myself.
If you don’t mind to share your auction domain source.
Quick update. Traffic is increasing nicely but need to find more link opportunities which is becoming difficult.
How much did you pay for the domain?
Traffic is now consistently over 100 users per day. I’m focusing on improving rankings for the product keyword. I’m sending PBN links to the guest posts to power them up too.
Among 100 users, how many people are buying the products on an average?
I haven’t had a single sale yet but around 200 clicks to the product/service website. My focus now is to rank top 3 for the product/service keyword i.e. “product ABC”
Okay, Which affiliate network you are using?
One of the big players. Don’t want to mention the exact one though.
Traffic and new keywords improving but rankings are dancing now due to some strong links with close to exact match anchor text:
Hit peak traffic of 254 users and hasn’t dropped under 100 user per day. Rankings should increase once the dance stops.
Any conversions yet?
Frustratingly not yet… around 200 clicks through to the offer but no sales. I’m in talks with my affiliate manager to compare how my sites conversion rate is in comparison to my competitors. Probably need to achieve top 3 rankings for sales really kick off.
I had 1000 clicks through to offers for September and also no conversions. Sure does get frustrating. I’m in the process of writing a big supporting article to hopefully jump higher in rankings.
Yeah, here’s the kicker I have another site in super competitive niche with poor rankings and is averaging one conversions at US$100 from around 20 clicks to the offer.
Yeah I’m sure it’s just the niche. I’m working hard on improving rankings for this site but it’s one of the most competitive affiliate niches out there.
I have worked on parasite and it sit on #2 for 2 months. after that it went to 3 now on 5. I sent some socials and some pbn links. now its dances like this 5 to not found then 5 and again not found. should I wait or send more links?
Curious to know what practice site you are using: Please share.
Update: traffic is improving and I’ve secured another quality guest post. The tier 2 PBN links seem to be helping too (4/6 are indexed):
What about the sales?
How did you manage to amass this kind of traffic despite all the fuss about Google’s new health niche algorithm, E.A.T and expertise?
Just set up a niche website in health also…and I’ve been feeling un-relaxed about getting traffic.
How do you reach out guest blogs?
Who writes your articles?
Tips for health niches?
Quality content, quality on-page SEO and quality links from sites with organic traffic.
So guys I am new to all this. As a doctor is it advisable to create pages giving advise on health and sending to affiliate product page? Or what’s the best way to do it? Thanks
Did you get any sales?
Not yet but I’m working on CRO and my sales copy. I’m not top 3 for the product/service/brand keyword yet though.
What does CRO mean?
How many articles do you have up now?
How much traffic are you getting a day?
Do you review more than one product?
When Did you Start?
Traffic is improving and the link juice from the tier 1 links seems to be working (still no sales yet but working on it!)
I’m #5 for the main product/ service keyword now and am getting clicks to the offer. Clearly I need to rank top 3 – I have more guest posts being delivered soon.
How much do you pay for guest posts?
What is meant by Tier?
Thanks for sharing, I am starting a new health and skincare site. Let me know few things, Are you using fake persona?
How have you satisfied Google in terms of convincing them that you have quality content on topic.
Can you please tell me what you are using for your affiliate program?
Update: finally got my first sale/conversion from this site! Clicks through to the offer have been increasing. Still only #5 for the product keyword though and will keep pushing to reach top 3 and finally #1. More work to be done.
I know guys that were doing $15k per month in this niche with one product so I will keep pushing ahead. I’m working on recovering a finance niche site too. I enjoy the process as much as the results
If you read through the post you will see what I’ve been doing to grow traffic. I’ve only done guest posts for link building with a few tier 2 PBN links to the guest posts. I will stick with more guest posts to increase rankings and traffic going forward.
Can I do guest posts on my money site or does it have to be Tier 2?
I tried the aged domain but it didn’t seem to vault me to a good spot. Anything else you look for when doing this? I’d like to push my copy writing services to the top of Google for a good group of long tails.
I know that you built this website right after the Google hit on health niche, but I wanna know how did you deal with it ? How do you make sure that your website if authoritative ? Are your Philippines writers from medical field ? I know I’m asking a lot, but I’m hesitant right now to jump in a health sub-niche that I’m really interested in.
My content is from https://asiavirtualsolutions.com/product/seo-articles/ which apparently is US writers but I have my doubts – the content is okay though. I think the authoritative part is handled by quality links.
Quick update: the site has made two sales so far (not great but we seem to be gaining some traction. Traffic has been above 200 users each day which is good. I’m now ranking #4 for my main product keyword and I’ve secured more guest posts with links to this page. Hopefully we will see some positive movement in the coming weeks. Here are the recent traffic stats…
Is you in medical industry YMYL.
Yes, it’s in the health niche.
Please suggest me what you doing, have certificate or licensed in your niche. I noticed your site doing well others sites hit very hard by medic update by google. I want to start building site on skin care niche but afraid after Medic update.
Update: the site has made 3 sales so far and I attribute this to ranking #4 for the main product keyword. Have had two new guest posts delivered with links to this page. Here are the traffic stats for October so far…
Quick update: traffic is increasing nicely with no new links added.
It has only made 4 sales in total though which is something I’m working on. I’m #3 for the product / brand but have two Amazon pages ranking above me which could prove difficult to overcome.
Quick weekly update: the site has now made 5 sales. Nice to see this growth over the longer time period…
