    Hi.

Is there any different between “New York Wedding Photography” and “Wedding Photography New York” in the eyes of a search engine?

Are they both considered the same keyword or should they both be structured separately?

Both of these are same but sometimes there is a difference in what user wants so you can analyse first page of Google for keyword variations and see if Google is showing similar results or different ones.

Look at the SERPs. Are they identical or different?

In terms of results they seem to be the same.

We tested this a lot and prefer to target the primary keyword first and the geo modifier second so “Wedding Photography New York” in my mind would be the most relevant.

They are different. The concept is this, user searched wedding photography gets a wide range of results. They want to add local modifier + New York. So “Wedding Photographer New York”. This is the concept for local.

So different that Google serves up exact same results.

It’s exactly what I say. That why even in your own niche there’s 2 different rankings for the variation…
